MMF sponsored and coached sixteen elementary school kids for FIRST LEGO League competition held on December 16, 2018 at Johnston Public school in West Des Moines area. The competition is intended to engage kids in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The competition includes four distinct activities: a) Demonstration of core values, b) A research project presentation, c) A robot game that requires visual programming of an EV3 LEGO robot to address FLL theme specific missions, and d) Presentation of robot design.
Two groups of 10 and 8 kids were mentored by five coaches, of which three are MMF volunteers. The kids named their teams – Thundering Super Stars (TSS), and Heroes of Tomorrow (HOT). The TSS team bagged the best research project award, and the HOT team bagged an honorable mention of their robot design at the event. A total of 24 teams from around West Des Moines area participated in the competition.

We volunteer to build homes through Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity.
Our MMF volunteers pack meals to help Meals from the Heartland organization in order to provide nutritious food to malnourished people in Iowa, across the United States, and around the world. Our volunteers include both children and adults.
We provide home cooked meals to the needy once a month at the Ep Worth church in Des Moines.
